Well my first weekend in new york for the summer is practically over! Sadly, it wasn't very eventful but it's been gorgeous weather!

On friday we were all in bed and asleep before midnight and got up fairly early to start shopping in Soho and Noho..all those cute places south of us. It was fun (and tiring) but I didn't buy anything, but I will definitely be back! Later in the day we took the subway (which is GENIUS by the way!) to Greenwich village for a little more shopping, and ended up eating at an adorable french restaurant, then went and saw "Carrie Bradshaw's" front steps from Sex in the City. It was on a beatiful street and got cute pictures, but then the homeowner came out and yelled at us and everyone else that his house isn't "42nd street!!" - meaning Times Square... oops!

Today we slept in and then went to Target in the Bronx for groceries - which is actually pretty nice where we were. Then we went walking around the campus we're at (Columbia University) and every part of it is beautiful! Now we're just relaxing not doing too much. I feel kinda bad since it's kind of like I'm wasting time while I'm here...but not too much :o)

Love and miss everyone - Taylor

Also, here are pictures from Day 4!

We matched this day - but I was dressed first!!!

If you're in New York you have to go to a Dunkin' Donuts

I started trying to get artsy with my camera

He loved the donuts

These four next pictures are at the Natural History Museum

We are still at the History musuem here - this is just a view from one of the exhibits!

This is where we had pizza on this day - only $8 for 3 pieces of pizza and two drinks!

We are now on our way to the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum...the ship in the background

And this is the ship

We are walking onto the ship now - the thing in the background is a submarine which we go into later

These pictures are taken from the top deck of the ship with all the airplanes on display

We are still on the top deck...just looking out to the Hudson River not the city anymore

Captain's Deck on the ship

A capsule - part of the space section of the museum

I don't remember what this thing was

Another space thing

This part of the ship was where the chains are for the anchor

A huge rope - still where the anchor stuff is

You can't really tell, but this is in a tiny room where beds and a bathroom was when the ship was used

We are now off the ship, and going to see this plane - the Britsh Concorde - the fastest plane??

We are walking off the airplane here, and this little boat is the Coastal Guard - we didn't go inside that one

More of the Concorde

Now we are inside the submarine - it was bigger inside that we thought - but the walkways were tiny!

Like this walkway...

And this door opening...

The odometer of the submarine

Getting off of the submarine - Interesting fact: the sub held 88 men at a time, and in a one month span of time, they were each only allowed one shower. The only person that this didn't apply to was the cook!

Our next stop was taking a "cruise" around the whole Manhattan Island - it was one of the best things we did!

Inside the boat - instead of getting in the back where there was no roof, we got in the very front with side and front windows - we had the best seats :o)

And most of these I can't remember what they were..sorry

The Statue of Liberty far away

Ellis Island

Ellis Island again

This is one of my favorite pictures!

Now Lady Liberty!!

The free Staten Island Ferry - but our cruise was way better!

Getting closer to Brooklyn Bridge!

Now Manhattan Bridge

Now I think the Washington Bridge?

The sleek black building is the Trump Tower

I like this picture because of all the plants growing over the edge

My birthday!

Yankee Stadium!

Another picture that makes me love my new camera even more!

This is just a random boat house

As we cruised more north of the island, more and more plant life appeared - it was beautiful!

All of this is green!!

The famous "Little Red Lighthouse"

Once we were done with the cruise, we rushed over to the Rockefeller building to Top of the Rock to see the sunset...but along the way we came to where a lot of streets were blocked, and right as we stopped, the Obama's drove by! It's hard to see, but in the black car in this picture, it's Michelle with her window rolled down

THEN, no joke, as we were walking into the Rockefeller building, Price Harry walked by! Starting at the right with the cop, he's the 4th guy...with the baby blue shirt on

We finally made it to Top of the Rock - the view was amazing!!

Central Park is the background

The Empire State Building

The gorgeous sunset that we got to see!!

This day was one of my favorites because of all the pictures we were able to take!

  1. Another great set of photos! I still can't believe how much you two were able to see and do in just 4+ days. Glad to hear you had somewhat of a restful weekend. Sounds like Dad needs to send $$$ so that you can make those shopping trips worth your while!!! :) Hope your second week is awesome. love you lots!

  2. Gorgeous pictures kiddo!! I am so jealous!! Summer in Crockett, Texas is a drag compared to NYC. Go to a show and forget standing in line at TKTS. Go directly to the theater and get matinee tickets - it's just about the same price and you get better seats! Judith and I saw "Cats" on a Saturday afternoon and sat ON THE STAGE in the set!! It was too cool!! I haven't been back since 9-11, but I have some great shots from the top of the Empire State Building. Take care and have fun!! Love, Marsha
