home sweet home

...for a few days at least! I flew in Thursday evening and stayed until Monday morning so it was perfect timing and a good break from my last semester!

Friday me and my mom went shopping to some of our favorite places by the Galleria area and went in search for a Houston cupcake boutique - Sugarbaby's. It was so delicious and was decorated so cute, hot pink and black! The pictures of what we got are on my mom's camera, but I would suggest going there if you're ever near the Galleria (http://www.ilovesugarbabys.com/) Friday night we went out to eat and got sushi with Mandi, Lee Lee, and Sam and then I got to see Amber afterwards!

Saturday during the day, we all went shopping to more places like consignment stores and Marshall's, and Michaels. Then we went to Madison's Creek game and I finally got to see her do her thing - She was amazing!! Here are some of the pictures I got:

Touchdown Cy-Creek!

That's Madison on the podium in all black!

Again of Madison

Walking out onto the field - Madison is the far left of the 3 in all black

There was a beautiful sunset!

After her halftime show me and Scott left to go find a place to watch the Tech/UH game...we found enough seats at Fox and Hound, but if you watched that game then by the end of the night I just wanted to go home. I didn't get any pictures (thank goodness) but we had a great time with Lorraine, David, Kevin, and Paige who also joined all of us!

Sunday I went to church with my parents, finally got to spend some time with Scott so we went to Best Buy and drove around town, and then for dinner we had Lorraine, David, Kevin, Paige, and Austyn over for dinner - ribs and sausage that my dad grilled! For dessert I made cupcakes (of course :o/ ) but I was so surprised how amazing they turned out! They were called Raspberry Cream but tasted like angel food

Topped with raspberries

Topped with strawberries

Leftover strawberries filled with the raspberry icing

All in all it was a great weekend! I wish I would have flown home more over the past few years, but I think maybe that's what made this trip even better...

I got in yesterday morning and have been nonstop since, but after tomorrow things will slow down. Tomorrow morning is business school's career fair - so say your prayers and cross your fingers that I can schedule a few interviews or at least get some leads to a job!

Goodnight,
Taylor

banana pancakes?...nope, banana cupcakes

Tonight I was procrastinating on my projects for my classes, so I searched long and hard to find a cupcake recipe that called for all the ingredients I already had! Well I finally came across one that I did have to tweak a little to not be so fattening, and they turned out delicious!

They are banana cupcakes with honey-cinnamon frosting! The cupcake part turned out perfect but the frosting was a little runny, but tastes SO good! I didn't have any left over bananas to slice to put on the tops, but I figured they would get brown over night anyways.

So after a fairly easy recipe, here is the results!

These are ones I got risky with and added chocolate chips in the batter and to the icing

And these are the regular ones with just banana batter and the icing

I wish I could share because they are SO good!!

I have to finally get back to working on my project for my Entrepreneurship class tomorrow, but this was a good break!

Goodnight,
Taylor

weekend fun

Hello everyone! Sorry (again) for not keeping up with this! Once school started I had to hit the ground running with groups and reading and presentations...too much to start off with :o)

Last weekend however, we had Monday off for Labor Day, so I took the drive over to Frisco. Scott's cousin, Paige, and her family live there (the ones who came to NY) so I went and stayed with them for the weekend and got to see Scott and his mom too! Because of some rainy weather and just wanting to relax, we swam when it was sunny and shopped while it wasn't :o)

Here are a few pictures from our fun!

Saturday night's dinner - Fish Tacos!

Sunday when we woke up, the pool had become heated over night! So the quickest way to fix it was to drain the hot tub, throw in 15 bags of ice, and let the water run through the pool

The end of a great weekend - He was a lobster

I haven't had the chance to take any more pictures, but soon I'll start having a lot because of my photography class - so more to come soon!

For the time being, I want to share with you a great new series of books (and website I discovered). My current roommate Aimme, gave me this cookbook for my birthday...and here is the website http://www.hungry-girl.com/

There are a few others besides this one, but they are all great! It's all recipes that are good for you (this one is every serving is under 200 calories) - and they are DELICIOUS! This particualar one has a whole section of "mini meals" that only make 1 or 2 servings. Those are mainly the ones I've been making since I'm just cooking for myself usually. She has staple ingredients that show up a lot, like whole wheat flour and egg substitutes. But everything I've made so far has been great!

I also have been stalking nearly all cupcake blogs I have been able to find online :o) Because of my current obsession with cupcakes, I'm starting to boom with multiple ideas and things I want to do!! But here are a few of my favorites that I keep returning to everyday:

Last night we played Rice and finally got our heads in the game! The final score was 55-10!!

I hope you've had some great past weekends! Next weekend our football team is away to play UT so I should have some time to take some pictures :o) Then the weekend after that I'll be home!!!!

Love always,
Taylor
